ASDA/IPL

IPL was formed in 2004 as a joint venture with shareholders Bakkavor and Thames Fruit as a direct procurement model for Asda’s produce business. In October 2009 IPL became a fully owned subsidiary of Asda. Today IPL buys and retails all of Asda’s Produce and also procures key products in the Wine, Grocery and Chilled Food cateogries on Asda’s behalf. The IPL model has allowed Asda to not only lower prices for their customers but also to improve the safety and quality of their products. Working with GLOBALG.A.P. and the IPL teams based in 11 countries has helped to achieve these goals by improving the performance and therefore the confidence in our supply base.
